Albuquerque · Chapter 8

Caelix Allgood

Give Caelix Allgood a page of figures and he’ll have read it while you’re still finding your place. Give him a pencil and someone willing to sit for a portrait, and he’ll take his time.

Caelix has an eye for the expression that makes a drawing feel like the person who sat for it. He’s shy about being the center of attention himself. Someone else looking lonely, though, will get his attention even in a crowded room.

What catches his eye

Hospital records can look alike until a name or a time keeps turning up. Caelix takes in the rows at an extraordinary speed. By the time his best friend Cypher has caught up, Caelix knows which detail he wants a second pair of eyes on.
